Train wrecks were not an uncommon occurrence in the early days.  This one was a head on collision at the Cass St. crossing.  We have the pictures of several collisions and derailments within the village limits of Bangor.  Trains were an important part in the development of this community.  Entire trains were made up of carloads of apples, produce, livestock and other agricultural products and shipped to distant cities and states from the rail yards in Bangor.  Our railroad series consists of photos of the depot, rail yard, rail workers, trains, and wrecks.
