One of our picture categories is residences.  This is Wm. Broadwell's home.  It sat on the southeast corner of Center St. and Monroe St. directly across the road from the Lumber Co.  The house to its right is Edgar Smith's home.  Mr. Smith built an evaporator plant (to the left of the photo).  The evaporator was one of the little secrets of the past that we stumbled upon in the course of research.  The plant was torn down about 1905.  Get the book, see the pictures up close and learn the history of this unique business.
