The above photo is of the West Michigan Savings Bank shortly before the building was razed in the late 1970's.  This bank building sat on the site of an older bank that was also razed before this one was constructed in 1908.  This structure was the crowning jewel of the community at the time and was thought to be the most modern building in the area.  We have a very good history of the banking business in Bangor along with pictures of a few bank presidents standing by the front window.  Anyone who conducted business here may remember seeing the stuffed bobcat that was in the back meeting room.  We also know the story behind this wildcat and where it came from.  However, it seems to have disappeared when the move was made to the current bank location.  Catch the book when it comes out and get all the facts.
