Elder John Reese came to Michigan from New York in 1850.  He spent twenty-five years in Berrien and Cass Counties preaching, teaching and farming.  The Elder got his formal education from Bethany College in West Virginia.  In 1876 he was called to Bangor where he helped organized the Disciples Church, also know as the Church of Christ.  He retired after twenty-five years of service to that church.  At one time he was a candidate for the State Legislature on the Prohibition ticket.  Elder Reese may have been married but it is not known if he had children.   We would like to know more about his life in Bangor from family members.
